Working nine to five, what a way to make a living

Hey Nomad,
Last week all of Ty went on work experience. I went to an advertising agency called Cawley Nea tbwa in Rathmines. First taste of freedom and instead of classrooms we were up every morning to find our own way to work.Throughout the week, I got to listen in on meetings with companies such as  MiWadi and a chariety event, and yes, McDonalds, nom. I also got to go to a Bord Na Mona tv shoot on Thursday and got to see the making of a tv ad and munch out in a bus full of food, and adults complain about work..
Work experience was one of the best parts of Ty so far and the agency gave me an insight into future jobs. I met so many new people and got to sit at my own desk each day while chatting to crickers at lunch, virtual banter for the win lads!
Over and out, Slán

Board room of Cawley nea where all of the meetings took place, buzz and a half it was

' The Podfather '

Hey Nomad,
A major part of transition year is the annual mini company competition where students form groups within their class to build a mini company. My group have chosen to do ipod covers, but also have a dent around the edges to hold your headphones and also a clear slot so customers can insert one of our designs or their own photos. With regular meetings taking place, the eight of us sat around my kitchen table last night to eat, no surprise and to choose a name and slogan for our product and slimmed the choices down to; "mod pod", "the podfather" and also "my pod" with pur slogan "We've got you covered", any more suggestions, please comment bloggers!

Mr. Drew, what a man!

Hola Nomad
This week in religion we watched a show called Educating Essex which was a show about bullying. The english school was out of control to say the least and their principal Mr Drew had to cope with alot. When Gabby became headgirl, her 'friends' started to mistreat her and she began recieving annomyous texts which threatened her. Also Sam began bullying a lad that used to be his friend. Throughout the show we learned how bullying effects the students of your school and also the risks of a criminal record can be involved if you begin to bully someone. Basically we learned that we should just bake cakes of rainbows and smiles and we can all eat it and be friends and happy.

But we didnt..

Hey Nomad,
Unfortunatly us Fodlians didn't win the fun walk *tear*. Blaring absolutely everybody we set out as a handmade mini cooper, giving it socks with our cheesy dancemoves and teenage girls flying in the air. The prize went to Banba who dressed as builders and helped save Mr Lawlor dressed as a girl, awks, with their catchy tunes, Well donee lads :) Us tys were given the job to manage the traffic and get everyone safely across the road, after the job was done we had the chats and munched away on the bag of food donated by Mr H, what a man. The day was greaat and our loss will still be celebrated with our tutor Mrs O'C,along with plenty of food, NOM.

Carlingford :)

Hey nomad,
Safe to say Carlingford was one of my best experiences. On Monday morning we all had to get up at six for the journey to louth. We arrived at about 9, got our groups and went straight away to our activities. From dark mazes to planking on planks, it was great crack with our fav instructor Wayne. After lunch we walked up a huge hill to a forest wearing army gear to play laser tag, hiding through bushes and wood to try win against the blues. Laser tag was definatly the best part of the two days. After we went back for dinner, which we had to eat with no hands because of a bet we made and lost with Wayne :L We then went to the Carlingford common room, where a few of the girls and lads from the other school sang, while some of us played volleyball outside, the night was great crack. At half 11, we went to our house which we were sharing with 15 girls and Ms.O'C :) Our rooms were full of food and the buzz was great. The next morning, after breakfast we headed out up the hill again to go orinteering, we walked around the middle of nowhere to try get each letter to complete a phrase and because we were finished first we got to have the crack with one of the instructors :) Later that day we went rock climbing and absailing, i then went up the rock climbing blindfolded. After we went back to the centre and unfortunatly our carlingford trip was over :( We set out back home at around half 5. In all, carlingford brought new friends and brought ty closer as a year :)
